Welcome to Ako Keja (“we”, “our”, or “us”). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your information when you use the Ako Keja mobile application.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Personal Information — your name, email address, and phone number, which are required to create an account and to facilitate bookings and payments.
Location Information — we collect precise GPS location data only while the app is in use. This is required to show nearby properties, enable map navigation to booked properties, and verify that feeders upload listings from the actual property location. Location data is never collected in the background without your knowledge.
Payment Information — payments are processed securely via Safaricom M-Pesa. We receive transaction references such as transaction ID, amount, and timestamp. We do not store your M-Pesa PIN or sensitive authentication credentials.
User-Generated Content — feeders may upload photos and videos of properties. These are publicly visible within the app.

3. How We Use Your Information

To provide and operate the app's core features
To process booking payments and confirm reservations
To share contact details only after a successful booking
To enable navigation and location-based services
To prevent fraud, abuse, and fake property listings
To comply with legal and regulatory requirements

4. Sharing of Information

We do not sell or rent your personal data. Your information is shared only in the following cases:

With Feeders / Landlords — your name and phone number are shared only after you have successfully paid the booking fee, and only for the specific property you booked.
With Service Providers — we use trusted third-party services to operate the app: Google Firebase (authentication, database, media storage), Safaricom Daraja API (M-Pesa payments), Google Maps (maps and navigation), and Africa's Talking (SMS notifications). These providers process data only as required to deliver their services.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your information only for as long as necessary to provide our services or comply with legal obligations. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time through the “Delete Account” option in the app settings.

6. Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption and access controls. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

Ako Keja is not intended for use by children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the app with an updated effective date.
